Occasionally I receive information that I think is really helpful to homeowners... The other day, as part of a cooperative program between the National Association of Realtors and Lowe's, I received a breakdown on their opinions of which remodeling projects had the biggest pay of when you went to re-sell your property.
Mind you -- this is based on national averages. Local tastes factor in when you're considering remodeling projects. Obviously, a basement remodel is not going to be a big seller in Central Texas....
Here are the top ten:
- Vinyl Side Replacement: 87% ROI
- Window Replacement (wood): 85.3% ROI
- Minor Kitchen Remodel: 85.2% ROI
- Bathroom Remodel: 84.9% ROI
- Window Replacement (vinyl): 84.7% ROI
- Two-story Addition: 84.2% ROI
- Major Kitchen Remodel: 80.4% ROI
- Attic Bedroom Remodel: 79.9% ROI
- Basement Remodel: 78.8% ROI
- Deck Addition: 76.8% ROI
